My ex b/f and I have a daughter who is 3..she’ll be 4 this May. My husband and I decided to put her into ballet and tap classes….and her father agreed it was a good idea and seemed very excited about her being in recitals and such. The classes are once a week and cost $ 45/mth. I asked my ex to buy her the dance wear when she needed it and my husband and I would pay the monthly fee since it was our idea.
She wouldn’t need dance wear every month. Maybe every few months. And we can sell the used dance wear to other parents.
My ex agreed to this…and today when he was supposed to go get her fitted for slippers he didn’t do it.(he takes her on weekends) He didn’t intend on telling me until I texted him to see how it went….
I have had to buy everything so far that he agreed to buy on top of registration fees and the class cost itself.. I explained to him where the leotards were in walmart. WHAT they were and how much they were….and he claimed he couldn’t find them. Is it so hard to ask an employee? So I had to go get them myself. I feel like he is trying to back out of this agreement…that he appeared to be happy to do!
I mean…the leotard was $ 7 and the shoes were $ 16,tights were $ 4. It’s hardly breaking the bank….but it’s his kid too. ya know?
Is asking him to cover these costs too much to ask? He would only have to buy her something when it got too small…which isn’t a monthly thing.
don’t have kids with deadbeats? yeah….that doesn’t answer the question at all…..
And he was shown what leotards were. in a picture.
and its not my husband its an ex…Boyfriend.
He has income. He lives with his mother. no bills. no rent. nothing.

Maybe you should show him what those things look like. My husband couldn’t buy a pair of leotards if his life depended on it forget about tights he (my husband) probably don’t even know what they are so maybe your EX is the same way.
Your husband is being a p–s ant like lots of men. he agrees to do his share then backs out. The child needs the things but he does not care one bit. He leaves it up to you,as usual. The lesson here is to get these things in writing when he is in such an agreeing mood, Then the friend of the court will force him to do what he promised. don’t let him get away with this now or he will continue to do this all through the child’s school years.
Sounds like it is too much to ask of him. Give him simple tasks and have realistic expectations. I wouldn’t expect my husband to search around for a ballet outfit and buy only specific items, too complicated. Go buy the stuff and give him the bill. If he doesn’t put in his share financially for your little girl, take him to court.
Since you did not say what is employment or financial status is it is hard to say. Of course I think fathers should do all they possibly can for their children but I also know people that are struggling to come up with as little as $ 20.00 right now so even if it seems like a small amount of money to some it can be the difference of eating or not for others. If it is simply an issue of being lazy tell him to give you the money for those things and you can pick them up your self. I understand the frustration of dealing with asshat baby daddy’s but don’t sweat it be happy you have a good relationship and don’t waste your time engaging in any sort of argument with the other guy.

No, it’s not too much too ask. It’s actually quite reasonable. Does he pay child support? Is it through the courts if he does? If he does and it’s through the courts maybe you can have it put into the order that he is responsible for some of the cost?

I bought this for my 8 y/o daughter. She loves it. I bought the 8/10, and it just fits, so I would say that it runs a little small. I thought this was a good price.
